Savory Chinese-Style Sliced Beef with Caramelized Onions in Rich Soy Garlic Glaze

Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 large onions, sliced into wedges
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce (optional for color)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Cooked white rice, for serving

Directions:

In a bowl, combine sliced beef with cornstarch, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and water. Toss well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned, then remove and set aside.
Add remaining oil to the pan and sauté onions for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
Return beef to the pan and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, and brown sugar.
Toss everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Drizzle sesame oil and sprinkle black pepper. Mix well.
Garnish with green onions and serve hot over steamed rice.
