Traditional Cornish Pasty with Beef & Vegetables 😋
Ingredients:
500 g plain flour
250 g cold butter (cubed)
120 ml cold water
400 g beef (small diced)
200 g potatoes (peeled, diced small)
120 g carrots (diced)
100 g onion (finely chopped)
5 g salt
2 g black pepper
1 egg (for egg wash)
Method:
- In a bowl, rub butter into flour until crumbly. Gradually add cold water and mix to form a firm dough. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut into medium circles.
- In a bowl, combine diced beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Place the filling onto one half of each dough circle. Fold over to form a half-moon shape and crimp the edges tightly to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 35–40 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
- Serve hot with a flaky crust and juicy beef and vegetable filling inside.
